Who can apply

  • Students living in:
    • Port Washington, NY (11050) or
    • Manhasset, NY (11030)
  • Must have at least one parent of Italian-American heritage
  • Family membership in OSIA is NOT required
  • If you do not live in those ZIP codes, you must prove you are a relative of a John Michael Marino Lodge member in good standing

Academic requirements

  • Must have applied to a college or accredited technical/vocational school
  • Minimum 3.0 high school GPA

Selection

  • Chosen by the John Michael Marino Lodge Scholarship Committee
  • Awards are given at the June general meeting
  • Scholarship amounts vary

Private John Michael Marino Memorial Award (Single Award)

Who can apply

  • High school seniors living in Port Washington, NY (11050)
  • Must have at least one parent of Italian-American heritage
  • Must:
    • Have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, OR
    • Be a relative of someone who is:
      • On active duty
      • Retired from the U.S. Armed Forces
      • An honorably discharged U.S. veteran

If you do not live in Port Washington

  • You must show proof you are a relative of a lodge member in good standing
  • Military service/relationship requirement still applies

Additional requirements

  • Must have applied to a college or accredited technical/vocational school
  • Award is based on an essay (details in application)

Important Notes (Both Awards)

  • You may apply for both, but can only receive one
  • Being related to a lodge member does not guarantee an award
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered

Eligibility

  • Graduating students living in:
    • Port Washington (11050) or Manhasset (11030), OR
    • A relative of a lodge member in good standing
  • Must show proficiency in Italian
  • Must plan to continue studying Italian in college

  • Based on excellence in Italian Studies
